Everyone has problems most of the time, and it's part of life, I suppose. But sometimes it's not always about what's going wrong with our lives. Magnifying them and discounting everything else is harmful for one's personal well-being.

Tell me something that's going right in your life right now. I'm SURE all of you will find something. :D Anyway, here's my own list:

Three Reasons For Celebrations
by Evy

  1. A wonderful, fantastic girl by the name of MINTY turns 19 today. I remember her well for her Brian Kinney's Addictions icon, her Beatles obsession, and that one fine day in Singapore. :D I never get to talk to Minty a lot of the time and she's usually invisible online, but I'll be damned if that's stopped us from remaining friends. We're just two friends... two GOOD friends...

To more Singapore visits, Mintos, and to more late-night rambly talks, to the Beatles and to Brian Kinney, may you have more celebrations in the near future. :D *kisses* Happy birthday, love.

  2. My mom and I are, in thirty minutes, going to a buffet lunch in Circles, which is, okay. Buffet lunch, huh? But if you've only had the chance to somehow eat in the last two weeks and most of your midnight snacks are chips, instant noodles, and all sorts of coffee (3-in-1, Extra Strong, and yes, even Ginseng Coffee), an international cuisine complemented by a mouth-watering dessert table is definitely reason to celebrate. :D

  3. Two weeks of near-absence have come to an end. :P Remember that marketing competition? Well it's done and over with, and WE PWNED IT. Considering that we were MAJORLY CRAMMING to the last minute--we were still finishing up the script and powerpoint presentation while the third group was presenting (we were fourth)--and we'd only gotten our Eureka moment a mere 36 hours before the competition, I'd say that was pretty damn good.

I'll miss my groupmates, though, you're never quite the same sort of strangers to each other once you've gone seen them fall asleep in staircases, under the tables, curled up in sofas, or after you've seen them sleepwalk, sleeptalk, or sleepwork, or after you've cheerfully cackled over competitive intelligence that some silly group has managed to leave exposed for all the internet world to see.

So I fell really deeply in love, had the most perfect relationship for exactly a week, and now it's over because he lives too far away from me. But I don't think we're very good at being broken up because we talk all the time and he keeps telling me how much he loves me and it's really kind of awful. That's what's going on in my life right now.

Aww, Tai. What's wrong with distance? Maybe you can try it and see if the distance really is going to be a problem instead of calling it off before it even begins. If it ends, then it ends, but at least you'll have longer than a week of happiness. :)

Well, we've both had terrible experiences with long-distance, and "no long-distance" is my first and foremost rule of relationships. But I actually was willing to break it, we had a long talk about it, he didn't think it was a good idea. I don't know. I'm really grateful that I had that week at all, you know?

I'm reading Draco By Trial which I see you have reviewed as well. (http://www.fictionalley.org/authors/thrintje/DBT04.html you know, if you've read so many billion others and can't recall)

And it is fab. Fabtastic.

Draco on trial for murder of Blaise, Pansy and Harry...possibly. Only up to chapter 8 but am reading furiously. FURIOUSLY.

It's so odd that I am in love with a fic that is up to chapter 8 without ANY SMUT. Of any kind. It's remarkable.

*giggles* I loooooooooove how everything unfolds! *teases with hints* And yeah, it's one of those REAL gems of fics. :P

Christ don't tease me. I know you know and it's killing me. I'm reading so much that my eyes are straining from the screen.

Curse you non-super human eyes.

*pets* Hey, at least you know it's finished. :P Imagine how friggin' annoyed I was to slave through the Draco Trilogy thinking it was H/D and then reaching the end to find that a) It was still het, b) It wasn't really my cuppa after all, and c) IT WAS BLOODY INCOMPLETE. :|

Hurry! Hurry! :))

You know I tried the whole het thing for awhile. I really did. I even went as far a canon. Ron and Hermione is the only het a I can possibly stomach because IT DOESN'T INVOLVE GINNY. Kill, kill, kill.

But somehow I just don't see the facination. What's the point of reading/writing a fic if it isn't something different. If I want het I can read the books. It's all there, obvious or subtext.

I need my H/D loving. Gaaah, chapter 8 complete.

LOL, you poor love. :P I rather like my het dysfunctional, actually. I never wrote happy R/Hr, let alone read any of the fluff, and I am absolutely enamored with the idea of Ron/Pansy (ever read Pariah by MaeGunnBatt? :P) and, well, that's about it. Never tried any Ginny-ships, she's so neutral on my scale of character-opinions it surprises me how so many people emphatically hate and love her at all. I suppose I have a high tolerance for annoying characters? :))

I think, to an extent, fans can write the het better than JK. :| I mean, seriously. Did you buy any of that??? :P

Ahh, H/D is a ship I've not touched for soooooo long it's surprising. My attention span's too short. *hides*

From: [identity profile] meniscus-lexie.livejournal.com
I'm a big fan of het as a secondary pairing. You know, a little R/Hr on the side. It works for me. Ron/Pansy? Hmmm, I don't know if I've ever delved into that particular realm. I keep thinking 'No! Gryffindor/Syltherin, how does that work?' But then I think 'Oh shit, that's H/D'

Which is odd. I don't know I just have always seen H/D as something that just meshes. It fits in my mind.

And obviously fans write het far better than others. I mean, does JKR REALLY expect us to buy that a boy, a boy who the whole wizarding world is attracted to, hasn't been laid in his whole time at Hogwarts!? Or you know, had some totally cliche 4 poster bed masturbation? Or some weird my-god-i'm-looking-at-olivers-ass-in-the-change-rooms-am-I-gay moments.

In terms of sexual reality of a teenage boy, you fail me JKR. (even though I love you and want your children)

If my boyfriend was that chaste during his teen years I would have thought there was something wrong with him

*snickers* The more challenging, I think, the more it interests me? Hahaha, I can imagine your train of thought going all "Oh, shit."

Well, I think if JKR chose to write it as more chaste, I'd have a better chance of buying the development. I mean, it IS a children's story, right? But then she puts in all the snogging and making out and it's just so wrongfully hormonal!

Hahahaha.

BREAKTHROUGH! HARRY KISSED DRACO AND LUCIUS IS OUT OF AZKABAN. *dies*

Hey, what 16 year old boy (the boy who, if he went to MY school I'd be hammering down his door, as would all my horny little firends) has only had some mild snogging? And thats all he's thought about. Children's book or no, we need to have something a little realistic. THINK OF THE OLD FANS. THINK OF US JKR. WE WERE THERE BEFORE ANY OF THE 4 YEAR OLDS. WE NEED THE SMUT.

MMm, wrongfully hormonal. *dies again*

*giggles* That's so cute. :)) Reminds me of when [livejournal.com profile] siobhanohare and I are reading fics while talking to each other and then flailing and then cheering. :))

Ahahahah. Oh god, if only JKR could. IF ONLY SHE COULD. I mean, really, I'm sure the four-year-olds would love to know as well. :|

*snickers*

Oh. My. God.

I just finished the fic. I think I need to have a little lie down. Or something. Wow. Intense. DO you know if she ever wrote the sequel?

I love being able to squee over fics with other fangirls. I miss it so much

THAT fantastic, yeah? *grin* MAN, I think I need to read it again, when I've got more time. I don't think she ever did, though. :(

*g* I know, me too! One time a girl in my freshman creative writing class sat down beside me and started asking me, out of the blue, if I read any Harry Potter fanfiction, and oh my GOD, when we both realised we loved H/D? That was the BEST. :P *sigh* I haven't squeed over anything fannish in a while. :P ♥

I never knew my one of my good friends at school was a HUGE slasher, because sometimes it's not something you want to splash about!

But then one day someone was talking about this HP fanfiction site they found and how it was so 'lame' and 'sad' (PFFT!) and then this other girl started saying
'Yeah there's this really weird thing they do with like, ships and stuff and they have these weird words for like, gay stuff.'

And at exactly the same time my friend and I get upset at the abuse and say
'It's called slash!'

Oh it was a wonderful moment. We came out of the closet together!

Oh, that's so cool! Haha, my friends from school and I got into fanfics around the same time, right, and it took a while before I warmed up to slash, but eventually some of us did. :P Some of my RL friends now know about me and slash, although they also think that I write smut, which I am MOST incapable of doing, thankyouverymuch. :P Ooh, and there was only one other girl from high school who liked slash as well, so we squeed over things, but then she turned religious in college and I haven't ever tried bringing up the topic with her again.

It's sad too, because there was this one fic from Gundam Wing that the two of us really followed from the very beginning and loved to the highest ends of heaven, and it was called Two Divided by Zero and I ONLY got the song a few months ago, and now it's, like, I can't squee about it with her anymore and no one else would get the reference. *sigh* (Haha, I'm sorry, now I'VE rambled. :P)
