slumber: (slyth)
Slept over at my friend's house yesterday. Originally, there were supposed to be three of us, but our other friend was sick so she cancelled.

Winning the Lottery

Anyway, we were pigging out, watching movies, and finally we sat out on her roof late in the night, eating chips and drinking beer and talking. She told me about this friend of hers whom I knew only by name, and how they won the lottery--some 38 million bucks, which is still a lot with our currency.

I never knew those things happened to real people at all.

Anyway, it ended up to be a double-edged sword. The family had to move out of the house into someplace far away, she stopped studying midsem and transferred to a different university, and her two little sisters stopped schooling altogether. (Apparently, two days after they found out they won, some men in military uniform came to the school asking for the two girls. The school didn't let them in--knowing our country and its military, it seemed a bit suspicious.) Not only that, they were no longer allowed to maintain contact with any of their friends, including my friend. She hasn't heard from the girl since.

I never thought an event like that would be so life-changing, but I think it might have been a little bit too paranoid of them to have done all those things.

I just feel sad for my friend, because she lost a friend, but there's no proper way to mourn for it. It wasn't death, and neither was it a gradual growing apart. They moved overnight, and just like that, she was gone.

Coupledom

We were discussing relationships, too, last night, in an attempt to grant us both shallow time. ;)

For girls and guys in relationships right now, I mean no offense.

Anyway, we noticed that whenever a girl and a boy get together, the boy will always be uglier than the girl, or, to say it in lighter tones, the girl will be more pleasing to look at than girls. Except when they're married, I guess. I personally have not seen an antithesis for the goodlooking girl/less goodlooking guy, and I know plenty of couples.

As if to prove it, my friend knew this cute single guy a year ago. He got a girlfriend a few months ago, and we haven't seen him until last night, when we found out he had a journal. His icon was a picture of himself with longer, definitely not better-looking hair and a sprinkling of pimples on his whole face that was not there before. See?

I am going to be single forever!!! LOL.
