It is October 31, and LJ Appreciation Month comes to an end. To commemorate this day (Haha, as if there were others who celebrated with me), I shall post all reasons to like LJ, including reason 31--which, I'm afraid to say, is not spiffy or special or anything clever. (Woe, Amanda, I have failed CPA.) Before that, though, a MEME on my LJ History. :D

My LJ History: )

And now, The 31 Reasons to Love LJ:

  1. It makes me meet incredibly generous people.
  2. It is codeless now.
  3. It allows me to edit in posts when I've been too silly to remember to put in everything I wanted to put in.
  4. Outlet from RL.
  5. Spiffy polls.
  6. Siobhan and Amanda.
  7. Even with free accounts, customising layouts can be fabulous.
  8. Filters are my friend. (I'm on a no-filters diet for this month, though. LOL. Well, as far as you know, that is. ;P)
  9. It's okay to hate it, it's okay to love it.
  10. Spiffy new update page, how could I have forgotten? It humps itself, which reinforces idea that it is not getting any and should really get together with YM so they both stop harrassing us.
  11. You have the option to disallow comments, which can (sometimes, not always) make you leave cryptic messages and make people wonder what on earth you're going on about but not allow them to ask you thereby increasing their curiosity and making them wonder even more.
  12. http://www.livejournal.com/birthdays.bml <-- very handy
  13. You can now preview the mood icon you want to use. V helpful if, say, you aren't feeling particularly anything and you want to look at something Jeremy Sumpter. >P
  14. It works in basic HTML for the unitiated, but allows those who know a bit more to work with it as well.
  15. They email comments to you. Even though it sometimes takes ages, at least it still does. Don't take this for granted.
  16. *scratches head* Oh dear. Uh, personalizable comment links? :P Mine says "happy thoughts" instead of "comments". :P
  17. It doesn't kick you out when you try to do something like, say, change your status message.
  18. It's like a PA system. If you want to announce something, just say it.
  19. If you put your cursor over the userpics in comments pages, you can see the key word (or is it comment?) for it. (What? It's perfectly fascinating!)
  20. You know the 750 friend limit? I think that's nice in a way that LJ is stopping us from getting totally suckered in and at least trying to limit just how much we can read. *nods* Isn't it sweet? :P
  21. No matter what timezone, what you say is always heard, and what everyone else says is always read.
  22. There's bound to be someone somewhere interested in the same thing you are. *waves at [livejournal.com profile] eljuno* (Except Adam Herald--why am I the only one interested in him? *pokes LJ users* I mean, look at him!)
  23. The LJ cut is such a godsend. (Ironic, with the length of this post. *snickers*)
  24. There's that feeling you get when you get new friends. *waves to new people on flist from [livejournal.com profile] mctabby's Friending Frenzy*
  25. My friend Amy got a paid account today as plenty of people have before (Me included), and plenty of people are asking LJ friends for addresses so they could send Christmas cards during the hols. LJ is an avenue for people to do sweet things for one another (when normally they wouldn't even have the chance NOT to give the other a glance if they bumped into each other on the street), and it kind of turns around the whole impersonal feel to being online that some people are worried about.
  26. Word travels fast this way. Hurrah for flists. :P
  27. The handy dandy LJ codes. Did you know that when you type in [livejournal.com profile] username, clicking on the name will take you to the person's journal and clicking on the little person icon takes you to the user's info page. Ain't it neat?
  28. Handy dandy memory pages. Don't you just love them?
  29. They've a Quote button for when people post comments. I think it's pretty neat. :P
  30. LJ keeps improving. They always try to come up with something new every month and are constantly working on new features. Love their hard work, people. <3
