OUR Livejournal :: Though some are free, and some paid -- we want what we signed up for -- merge or not

As stated by Eweek.com on January 5th, 2005, Livejournal.com will be merging with SixApart.

And at the point, all users are unsure of what will be lost and gained through this merger. Will we lose icons? Communities? Making journals for free? What will happen to the rating communities, and the RP Journals that members create? Will we lose the PostByPhone service?

But, more importantly, will we just lose the little things? The silly April Fools Day jokes, or the News Updates? Will SixApart even care about it's users like those in charge now do?

Will we lose some of our livejournal friends?

This is not a protest, just a hope. A little faith. We want to keep what we signed up for -- what even some pay for -- the services, the communities, the icons -- everything. We're not sure if this merge will make Livejournal less of a community then it is, or if it will stay the same as it always has been for the past five years -- but nonetheless, we only want what we've had for the past five years:

Livejournal

Is it so wrong to wish for the end of the world RIGHT NOW?

I mean, we've already got the signs, haven't we? Snow in Texas and Saudi Arabia, tilting of the earth's axis, the whole calamity with the tsunami, we've got a deadly disease which I THINK is beginning to spread around here in my country, the Red Sox winning after a really long, dry period (I mean, I always root for the underdogs, but dude. Ominous.), finding a cute boy in university (o.O MY GOD THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH UPON US) etcetera, etcetera.

So, I've decided, if the world is EVER to end, it should be right now. This instant. Please. An Accounting quiz first thing in the morning, a report we're REALLY cramming right after it, a three-hour break and THEN a quiz I'm almost definitely failing (his quizzes are AWFUL. Hardly anybody ever passes. :\), on top of LJ being sold to Six Apart (OMG DOES THIS MEAN ADS? BOOOOO!!!), a still-general feeling of crumminess, and then, other issues. *is absolutely useless at debate and is always second best to people*

Yes. I'm bitter.

(Next time I'm posting intelligent HP discussion, I promise. Let's hope RL doesn't interfere and make me write something else.)

Right.

We've a report on WiFi (wireless fidelity) tomorrow, and honestly, I'm not entirely familiar with it. I SHOULD be, because we were supposed to research on it and stuff already, but I'm just not.

Can someone please please tell me any sort of advantage and disadvantages of WiFi technology to the consumer-level and business-level, and what IS the significance of WiFi in our lives?

Any help would be muchly appreciated. *is offering to drabble any ship from HP, as drabbles are the only thing to offer, how tragic*
