Ten Simple Pleasures in Life:

  1. Chocolates. Anytime of the day, when you're craving and stuff? Chocolates will do the trick. I love milk chocolates and dark chocolates best, without any nuts or almonds that usually take away the feeling of pure chocolate melting in your tongue. Fondues are the best, especially with really melted Belgian chocolate. Fuck.

  2. Watching a really good film. Or seeing anything beautiful, really. I haven't done that in a long time, at least not with a new film. I remember watching Love Actually again and going all wibbly over all the fabulous scenes. I love watching films that I end up just enjoying and liking without feeling like I have to break it down into cinematography, acting, plot, directing, and score. I love standing witness to beauty before me (wuh), to have it unfold right in front of me and I'm just absorbing everything and remembering. Gorgeous images, breathtaking views, etcetera--I'm a really visual person so any sort of eye candy makes me happy.

  3. Hearing lyrics for the first time. As some people would attest, I could have a song in my playlist for ages and never really hear the words until some days when I'm feeling particularly attentive. I love these moments. They're rare, granted, but there's some sort of happy magic to discovering something new in something old. :P

  4. Coffee shop and tea. I can't begin to express just how much I love places like Seattle's Best for their couches and music and coffee shop atmosphere, but man, I really do love those places. They get kind of cold but I love drinking hot tea and feeling it spread warmly through my chest. It's like a happy feeling, only really tangible. :P And there's just a relaxing, work-conducive environment that comes with coffeeshops that keep me coming back, even though I've already tried to stimulate the same environment in my own room. :P

  5. Snuggling under my pink blanket. If you've spoken with me through Y!M, then you likely know that my avatar is of a girl curling up under a pink blanket. I whooped when I saw that in the options list, because I really DO have a pink blanket that I adore curling up under. :P

  6. Going out with my brothers. It doesn't happen often, but when it's just me, my brother, and my host brother out for dinner or watching a movie or bowling (like we did today, I so COMPLETELY lost although I got a couple of strikes, hurrah!), it really feels a whole lot like family, which is rather amusing and adorable. Today, also, is our last day of being perfectly sequential. My brother turns 18 on March 1, so then we'll be 19, 18 and 18 instead of 19, 18, and 17. /dork

  7. Finishing a story. I haven't written in a long time, but a month or so ago I began writing again, and over the last few weeks I've been able to write a whole lot more. I start so many things and never end up finishing them, but I love the feeling of finishing any kind of writing. (And then never looking at it again and starting another one entirely. :)) )

  8. Exploring countries. The best thing I love about traveling for debate is that we don't pay for tours, thus we're often left to our own devices when we get free days. I love how we have to find our way around by asking directions from tournament organizers and then taking cabs/trains/whatever other mode of transportation exists to get to the shopping districts. I love being someplace for a few days and discovering its ins and outs. I don't see all the tourist spots, yeah, but I remember what I do see better than if it had been pointed out to me from the window of a tour bus on schedule.

  9. Doing something out of the ordinary. Sometimes when I get entirely too stuck in my routines I cut class and do something entirely useless, or sometimes I try things out just to see how they go, or sometimes I would do something impulsively and see where it takes me. More often than not, they're completely useless paths and plenty of the chances I took were probably bad decisions, lol, but where's the fun in having everything go perfectly according to plan?

  10. Real wrap-around hugs. There are very few people in the world--I can think of only two right now, off the top of my head--whose hugs match this description, and they were both friends in high school whom I rarely see anymore, but man, I love their hugs. I love being enveloped in large, comforting hugs, where I feel like I can just cling and never let go. Hugs are happy, that is all.
