Thank you so much for signing up this year, and I’m so excited to have you assigned to me! I'm Slumber on AO3 as well, and it's my fourth time signing up for Yuletide, which has been nothing but a fantastic time for me, so I hope it is for you as well.

For what it’s worth I’m incredibly easy to please, so feel free to run away with whatever ideas you may already have! But if you wanted some prompts, I hope this letter helps inspire you.

Ratings: G to E are fine!

Likes. It depends on the ship and the dynamics that attracted me to them in the first place, but I quite love canon-centric studies of relationships and dynamics and seeing the different nuances other people have on a character over AUs.

Tonally I gravitate to lighter fare, but I'm also very happy with pieces that go deep into character studies and introspection are more than welcome too!

If you would prefer to do something lighter and warm-hearted, I'm always up for those tried-and-true romcom tropes of idiots in love, mutual pining, friends to lovers, fake dating, didn't know they were dating, practically married, etc. 5+1 fics are great too! I love domesticity but not established relationship, so anything in that vein would be amazing too!

I'm a bit of a heavy shipper but in case you're not up for the ships I've listed, you're more than welcome to go the genfic route as well, no worries!

DNWs. There isn’t a lot that I don’t like — name a trope and I’d probably be able to come up with at least one work I’ve read in it that has stayed with me. That said, I don’t always seek out fic with first-person POV, BDSM elements, noncon elements, pregnancy, dark themes for darkness' sake, and kink-centered PWPs. I've got to be in a specific mood for Major Character Death, terminal illness, wedding fic and kidfic (I know, I know), so I'd rather not have any of them. I also would prefer it when people don't say "I love you" and instead have it shown/understood through their actions/obliquely. I'd really also not prefer unhappy endings — bittersweet & hopeful is fine! Light angst is okay, things don't always have to be easy, but I'm here for good vibes mostly.

The Prompts. Here’s a blanket disclaimer on the prompts here — feel free to absolutely ignore them and run away with your own ideas! If something I’ve said sparks an offshoot kind of idea, please pursue it! All I’d be truly happy for is another round at reliving these characters in their worlds, and I am SO looking forward to what you come up with whether it’s from one of these prompts or not! So please consider them starting points, if anything, or some way to get a sense of what drew me to these characters/fandoms to start. Thank you so much! <3

Mashima Taichi

General: ODAO! I'm allllll caught up in the manga so no worries on spoilers there, and Taichi after all this time is still my one true boy. I love the way karuta is a sport for everyone, and I LOVE the way their relationships and friendships have developed over the course of the series. I'm an OT3 shipper, but if push came to shove, I do prefer Chihaya with Taichi, ALTHOUGH I am also very much NOT opposed to Taichi/Hisashi, as I think there's some interesting dynamics there, nor Taichi/Arata. I love Taichi, and I'm not sorry for it ~~I mean someone's gotta ahahaha~~.

Would be VERY happy with genfic character study of Taichi through all of this — I'd love your take on him through the series so far, or even where you think he'll be in a future fic, regardless of what the ending of the manga left us with. Does he follow the path his mother set him out on, or does he learn to carve one out for himself, and if so, what does that look like? Who would still be there in the future, if that were the case?

Possible prompts:
+ OT3? Or gen! Taichi showing up for Chihaya and Arata, the three of them learning what they want/need from and can offer/give to each other. I want to know your take on that resolution, if you're so inclined?
+ Some years into the future, a retrospective of this time in all their lives. Where are they now? What did they learn from karuta? Friendships? Who they were?
+ A reunion a few years later, maybe now they are different people who may or may not be better equipped to face each other :'3
+ Anything dealing with the developing of relationships between either Chihaya/Taichi/Arata, Chihaya/Taichi, Taichi/Hisashi, or Taichi/Arata.

Drea Torres, Eleanor Levetan

General: ODAO! Listen, this movie was just such a bop. It was a fun time, an excellent update to the teen flicks of the early aughts and I could not get enough of the central conflict here! I want more of Drea and Eleanor, and I want to further explore the tension there! SURELY this doesn't end with Drea still straight? There's so many ways to go here (fun, light, breezy romcom or maybe a little more messy and complicated years-long pining and misunderstandings) but I will genuinely eat every flavor. Give me latent queer realizations, jealousy, fake dating mixed in or on its own! If you're not here to ship them that's okay too, I'm also just up for Drea realizing she's not as straight as she thought she was, and Eleanor being there for her throughout.

Possible prompts:
+ A straight girl CAN be besties with a lesbian and NOT have feelings involved. Drea fields this question through her adult life and she is starting to get sick of it AND insulted at how everyone seems to think naturally Eleanor might be harboring a secret crush on her. It's just, like, SO not like that! In fact, it is SO not like that Drea is starting to wonder if there IS something wrong with her. Wait. Why is she even bothered??
+ An SOS text is all one of them needs before the other swoops in on a bad date, an overstaying one night stand, or a clingy partner and act the jealous ex or current girlfriend to chase them away. This works 99% of the time. But ONE time it doesn't...
+ Drea is 100% fully straight, but she can't help wondering what it would be like? Maybe? She's an open-minded modern woman, you should always explore these things, right? Maybe just once to get it out of her system...

Gu Yiliang, Wei Yanzi

General: ODAO! NIANGZI IS RIO!!!

TBH I don't know what I'd like here because I don't know how far the story's gotten, so I don't know what I'm missing so far? I got up to the translations until they were on hiatus, though, and I'm caught up with the manhua! But I adore how WYZ is such a sweetheart, and just the comedy of miscommunication that's going on with them so far!

Possible prompts:
+ NiangZi fall into bed together for reasons, but are confused about what it means. Cue confusion and mutual pining and mild angst that is ultimately resolved :'3
+ A scandal threatens Gu Yiliang's reputation, but Wei Yanzi comes in to..... save the day...?? Even he is surprised how!
+ Xianxia AU? Niangzi are disciples from competing sects that must work together after some kind of accident at a Sect Alliance Conference. Wei Yanzi, who has held many assumptions about Gu Yiliang, begin to see each of them challenged and broken down :'3

Sasaki Shuumei, Miyano Yoshikazu

General: Gosh do I love how soft and sweet this series is, and the way Sasaki and Miyano understand and care for each other. Totally happy with anything canon compliant that's either a missing scene or a continuation of their story :)

Possible prompts:
+ Firsts! Doesn't have to be the first time together (but that would be great too!) but I think now that Sasaki's in college, what other firsts will they get to as a couple?
+ Domesticity~ Maybe years into the future, when they've ended up living together or are always at the other's place, just the two of them enjoying being with each other
+ Clothes sharing/swap
+ Age swap: What if Miyano was the senpai?

Hirano Taiga, Kagiura Akira

General: I adore Sasaki and Miyano both but wow Hirano and Kagiura are ready to bring their own strong brand of slow burn to the Pining Olympics aren't they?

Possible prompts:
+ Feelings realization and/or getting together: Please I don't care what it is, I'm dying to know what you think would make Hirano realize he not just doesn't mind Kagiura's affections but maybe even welcomes?? or likes?? them???
+ A date: whether or not they're on the same page feelings-wise yet, maybe Kagiura manages to talk Hirano into going out with him on something more date-like~
+ Valentine's (or other holidays): Special occasions sure have a different meaning/feel a different way when you've got a kouhai with a massive crush on you, who you haven't fully rejected yet, huh?

Kabakura Tarou, Koyanagi Hanako

General: ODAO! I love absolutely everyone in Wotakoi — it’s the strongest call-out manga/anime I’ve ever had the pleasure to see — but Hanako and Tarou own my heart. I’m just drawn to couples like them, who bicker constantly but still have moments where you see they obviously care for each other.

Possible prompts:
+ Something about their volleyball backstory? I just think it’s absolutely hysterical that these otaku used to live a sports anime life, and I’d actually love a look at their very own rivals-to-lovers origins!
+ Something domestic and cute in the present time would be absolutely great too! We usually see them from the perspective of Narumi, but I thought that scene where Hanako had fallen asleep on Tarou’s shoulder and he shushed Narumi and Hirotaka so as not to wake her was the absolute cutest! He can be so tender with her, I would love to see the times that happens! I don't know if you're caught up in the latest volume either, but!!! If you are!!! I would love something around that too >.>
+ I’d also love a bit more of a look into how Tarou sees Hanako’s crossplay infamy~ Surely she’s got a few fans as she seems quite popular — does that bother him? How much does he help her with putting costumes together?
