He glances at you from across the library table, nodding toward your book. The two of you sit alone in a corner of the library, separate from all the others.
It's because you're both Slytherins, they whisper.
You don't speak when Malfoy taunts Potter, even when the rest of your Housemates laugh along. Instead you stand a little way to the back of the crowd, and you catch his eye, and the two of you say nothing.
It's because you're the quiet ones, they say.
It's the final match of the year, and the Quidditch Cup is again a few points away from your team. Students fill the bleachers, cheering teams on and waving flags in House colours. Nobody notices that neither of you are watching with the rest of them.
It's because you both live in the shadows, they reason.
Behind closed doors, in lonely rooms and quiet dorms, he kisses you and you hold him. He moans passion into your lips, you shiver within his arms. Nobody knows that you love tangling your fingers into his hair, nobody sees the way your body arches under his touch.
It's because you're each other's and no one else's, you think.
