That Blasted Murphy's Law

slumberYesterday night was a bit iffy. I think I said "Oh great. What else could possibly go wrong?" about three times and each time, something did happen. Never believed in Murphy's Law til last night.
First, my friend and I had to buy drinks for a party. We went to the supermarket, bought coke and stuff, and we were about to buy ice when I realized that I left the cooler at home.
Friend says fine, we'll buy the ice when we get there. So we hop on merrily along, and we go in the general direction of the place. I didn't ask for directions prior to going there because 1) Am not directionally challenged, and 2) How hard is it to find a well-known school (which is the landmark) anyway? (This is the point when you know something's bound to go wrong.)
First, though, we had to find ice. I asked another friend, and he directed me to this place. We go, and there is much traffic. After five minutes of going round the shopping center, we find the supermarket, go in, and are consequently informed that no, sorry, they no longer sell tube ice.
We go to a gas station nearby, again going past cars at turtle-speed, and with luck we find ice.
Next, we had to find the place.
The directions the friend gave me were a bit confusing, because I thought it meant I had to go to a part in town which was definitely not where I knew the school to be. So I asked another guy, who called me up, and proceeded to give me the same directions, except he told me that if I get on a particular avenue, I should be going away from the main road. Except, I wasn't listening anymore, because I thought they were the same directions.
So we go toward the main road, and we get stuck in traffic for a good thirty minutes. By then the time for the party was three minutes away (7pm).
As we approach the main road, the instructions of my friend suddenly registered. Shoot. We had to go back.
That took another twenty minutes.
We finally got there almost an hour after the party started, and they were just waiting for us because we had the drinks and the stuff needed. Oops.
You think that was all?
We forgot to bring a can opener for the canned juice we bought, too.
And mother dearest only allowed me to stay until 9pm, because the place was so far away from home, so I ended up staying for an hour (but I sneaked in 20 more minutes) before I had to go home.
I hope Murphy got what was coming to him.
