If I don't like someone, then, you're right, I don't care about their feelings very much. Why should I? I do care immensely about the feelings of my friends, and if you were remotely close to me, you'd know that. But the fact doesn't change that it's still honesty, and no one said it was supposed to make anyone feel any better about themselves.
