i cut my finger on a can of soup (campbell settlement, here i come!) and had to get stitches in the ER in the middle of the night, in my flaming pink hello kitty pajamas, and now my finger is all dressed up so i either look like i'm perpetually giving someone the finger OR i bought the newest attachable toy from babeland.

happy chinese new year, folks.

I once sliced my thumb open (the back side, not the palm side) trying to open a package with a pocketknife :| it necessitated four stitches and crazy bandaging and it was centimeters away from being bone-deep.

My point is! After the numbness wore off, it didn't hurt at all, until they took the stitches out, and I have really really low pain tolerance. So you should be okay, pain-wise.

The only downside to that is that it has been three-odd years and I still have a pretty obvious scar. But I'm okay with that. So!

That's sort of likely what my cut is like too, I think. So they don't give you anesthesia when they take the stitches out? :| I kinda wish the stitches would dissolve into my skin like some do, haha. Oh god. :| I'm a wimp too. :\

Ooh, I think a scar would be kinda cool. Except every time people ask me what happened to it I'd have to go back to telling them it was from opening a can of soup. :|

I was in California when they took the stitches out (several days after they recommended I get rid of them), and it was at this weird backwater clinic that covered everything from birth control/abortions to broken bones, instead of a proper hospital. So I wouldn't rely to heavily on my stitch removal experience.

Dissolving stitches would have been the best.

Aha! Awesome. :D I think I'm gonna go consult my dad on this to be sure. Or, like, you know, my twenty million other relatives who're all in health care one way or another. :|

Totally. :|

(Also, thanks so much for the assurances! I really dislike the thought of anticipated pain a lot, so. :| I feel much less iffy about the sitch of the stitch. :D)
