So Line ([livejournal.com profile] ccharlotte) and I watched The Dark Knight yesterday, finally, and I loved every moment of it. (I love this city!) I won't wax poetic over it, but I have to admit that like [livejournal.com profile] ronniekins77 I DID avoid reading what the flist thought of it, so this could very well be redundant or repetitive or whatever.

I got most of the movie, but towards the end one thing was not clear to me.

Did Harvey Dent die? I thought in that scene where Commissioner Gordon was talking about him with Eckhart's photo behind him, that he was eulogizing him, but Line didn't think so.

This is all very important stuff. If Dent is dead, then Scarecrow would be the next villain, and then in that case we'll get Cillian Murphy. *nods solemnly*

Thoughts?

I read that the coin landed on the "live" side, so this could all be just hinting that he was dead, but really not.

Still, I read (haha, all just reading) another discussion which pointed out that it would be pretty hard to turn Harvey Dent into a completely soulless, evil criminal, because of how tragically his story played out in TDK.

Well. I think batman and Gordon both assumed he was dead, but neither of them checked the body. |: The coin did land on the live side, but so did batman's earlier, I thought. So... I think they think he's dead, and told everyone he's dead, and played it like he was... but I don't think he actually is.

I kind of want catwoman though.

I'm pretty sure it's the classic everyone, including the audience, thinks he's dead, but... In superhero comics, no one EVER dies. You know it's true. Except that Rachel woman, 'cause she wasn't even in the original canon.

But... we already had Scarecrow? Ish? And there's always two villains per movie, it seems. Hmm.

I'm pretty sure he's dead. I think the way it was supposed to run is that the Joker was going to come back again. That would be IF Nolan decided he even wanted to direct another.

I think Christopher Nolan's being very smart about things in that he's wrapping up every movie very well. Sure, it could lead to a sequel, but it doesn't have to, and that way he's not roped into doing ten more Batman films, which I think is a good thing. Not that I wouldn't love at least one more, but with Heath gone, it would be nigh on impossible to get someone to fill that role and do as good a job as he did.

I think Dent could either be alive or dead. If they decide to do another movie, I'm sure they'll bring him back. I mean, in this movie everyone thought Gordon was dead, but voila, he shows up and kicks butt. So, I dunno.

I'm not sure about the Scarecrow being the villain in the next one. It seems like he's already done his thing. I think they could have Two-Face and someone else (I'm REALLY hoping they don't include the Joker), but I don't know who they would have. Hmm.
