I JUST SAW THE FIRST HALF OF HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS.

I'm guessing this was the screening where all the special effects haven't been put in yet?

Was it any good? Did it make the eternal camping trip interesting? Is Neville in it at all, or do I have to wait until Part 2?

We were warned that the special effects weren't all in yet, but most of it looked pretty done. Things that weren't:
- a cord tugging Harry away when he was underwater
- the dementors in the Ministry were still sort of white nebulous beings
- the doe that was Snape's patronus was a real doe for like, part of a scene
- the ending with the tomb is all still weird
- a pre-apparition scene with Dobby, Harry, Hermione and Ron had all the characters CGI'd
- etc etc etc

And it was pretty good. Some parts (ie, camping) dragged on for too long, there were weird scenes with Harry and Hermione, some parts weren't explained well enough (like Grindelwald wasn't really introduced as an evil wizard at all, he was just a random wizard), and some parts in the beginning didn't feel like they got followed up on (but that's because it focused on the trio a lot for the rest of the movie.)

I can tell you that Neville IS in the movie, albeit very briefly. Do you want me to tell you what scene it was or do you wish to remain unspoiled for the Neville goodness? :)

No, no spoiling! I just wanted to know if he was in it. But thanks for asking! I have to admit I'm looking forward to Ron destroying the locket Horcrux and the Malfoy Manor scenes too. :)

Depends where your tolerance is regarding inaccuracies, but to be fair, I haven't read the book since it came out so I can't remember a lot of where things were wrong. I've long since given up on expecting movies to faithfully follow everything from the books, haha.

I'll probably still go to the midnight showings, because I always do, but even just the previews have little things that bother me. =| I hope some day they re-do the series as like a TV series or something. HBO would do an amazing job with it, I bet.

i just finished rereading dh this afternoon and i can tell ya i am well jealous. dh is my favourite book... which no doubt means i'll hate the film :| but i can't help but be excited for it anyway. D: :D

when it comes out joel and i are going to watch it in IMAX! i have never seen anything in imax, so it's gon' be pretty epic. hopefully.
