• het_bigbang is plugging along, but I think I'm officially blocked. I know what comes next, but not really how to write it. It could be because I spent the last couple of days in San Francisco and have had very little sleep and just need to step away for a bit, but. I don't know. It also doesn't feel like I'm at the halfway point of the story yet? Which could be a problem.

  I have tickets to an evening showing of Deathly Hallows part 2. I'm mildly interested in what JKR has to say about the houses as per the Pottermore announcement. I would be disappointed if she ~ruined~ what's canon in my head by saying things about some characters that I didn't have in mind, but at the same time, the characters I like are minor enough that I don't think she's going to screw them up further. And the one time she touched a minor character, it was Blaise Zabini and I kind of loved what she did with him. It's not quite "In JKR I trust" but it'll do.
  
  
• NHL Schedule
  
  Lots of bullet point stuff here. Kind of disappointed we won't be going to the Wild on a Saturday, even more disappointed that the home-and-home opener is against Dallas as opposed to the Wings, when the Hawks/Wings have traditionally opened the season in at least the last three years.
  
  St Louis on December 3 will be on a Saturday, though, as will Nashville (twice, even: January 21 and March 31) and the last game of the season in Detroit, April 7 (also Caroline's birthday!) so doing two out of four possible road trips will be pretty good.
  
  Not related to the schedule, but NHL-centric: WHOA FLYERS. WHOA.

I'm not so excited about the actual concept of Pottermore so much as I'm excited about the extra tidbits about the HP universe/characters she has stored away.

I want to buy my tickets for DH2 but I'm still waiting for my "friends" to tell me if they're going or not. :|

I'm hoping the little tidbits are good bits, haha. I wish I could say I'll ignore them if I don't like them, but I have this habit of trying to fit everything she says so they make sense in my one canon. I want to know what she'd say about Theodore Nott, I think that's one character she has more stuff about than she actually wrote about...

Boo. :\ Good luck figuring things out with them, though!

When is the het_bigbang due? If you do have the time, step away from it, but write something else. (I'm studying writing at the moment, and this seems to be a strategy for writer's block that actually works.)

This Pottermore thing has me intrigued. Fill me in when you have the details, please? I didn't know JKR was prepared to entertain HP questions anymore!

Not until September 25, but I'm hoping to get a month of editing in, so the deadline for me is closer to August 25? It's funny that I got this message just now, because after a weekend of writing 892 words total (I haven't actually had time to sit down and WRITE, but I'm thinking even if I did I wouldn't be able to write much still) I've decided to write something else completely new too! I'm glad that's what's taught in writing too, haha.

She's made the announcement! It's a little weird, but it basically means it's a website that's part social site and part extra canon-- it'll track the books from the first chapter of Sorcerer's Stone all the way to the end of Deathly Hallows, with new information for each chapter as JKR has hoarded (read: edited out) all these years. So there's apparently backstory for McGonagall's early heartbreak concerning a Muggle, and how Vernon and Petunia met, and if you register at Pottermore you can get sorted to a house and get a wand (1 of 33,000 combinations) and if it's a house other than Gryffindor, you'll learn more about the house you're in.

Whew. Mouthful. :P

It's great that you're allowing yourself adequate time to edit, too. Very important. I'd love to read this when it's finished!

This Pottermore sounds absolutely amazing. I read somewhere that it's exclusive for the first few months? Then it's open to all users? Either way, I'm sure someone will be compiling all the new data somewhere for us to peruse. How amazing - I love backstory stuff so very much! <3 I'll probably be in Ravenclaw, though I'd love to know more about the Slytherins.
