After the End and My Crappy Schedule
Nov. 11th, 2003 09:23 amCouldn't resist.
I was supposed to update and go around LJ last night, but because I got stuck on After the End, which has been a very visual read so far, I was no longer able to.
Well, I wanted to but it was already 930pm, and I guess I wanted to get a seven-hour sleep for a change.
I wake up at 430am.
Every day.
But I'm used to it.
So I didn't get on LJ anymore, and I'm up to chapter 29 of AtE.
So far, AtE is such an easy read. I liked reading it through and actually seeing things happening, and the Quidditch game was just so *breathtaking* and there's the rush of adrenaline that everyone else is feeling and it is tangible.
I didn't expect AtE to be one of those one-shots I love reading so much of that include obscure allusions to various events that never get clearly stated in any event in the story. I thought it would be soap opera-ish, even, because I have never really gotten used to reading about more than one plot in the same storyline. I'm that type of person. I focus on one storyline and that's the kind of fic I usually look for.
Not AtE. It was the first time I've read a multi-plot and actually looking forward to each interaction, each scene, each story.
It isn't profound, not really. On some levels it becomes mushy. Sometimes it's just a bit too fluffy. But it's clear, and it's an enjoyable piece of fiction. I love the aspects of the wizarding world that they focus on, the touching side stories that emerge every once in a while (Eloise's, by a guest writer, for instance, and I'm looking forward to the Molly/Max interaction, if it would ever happen.) and the sheer imagery that I get from it. :)
All I'm saying is, if you're a H/G or R/Hr fan, then yopu've probably read this and agreed with me. If you haven't, then don't put it off like I did. If you aren't a fan of either ship, give this a try. It's not *all* H/G and R/Hr, and hey, Sirius is alive! :D
Plus which, the reason I'm on LJ at 9 in the morning of a weekday?
I have a crappy sched.
I have 7-830am classes every day, and my break is 830-10. Usually the time other people start their day. Which basically leaves me alone to fend for myself. And I seriously don't want to spend every morning on the Net cafes because it's *just* not practical.
I belong to an org, but I can't get to the place where they usually hang out because I don't have a key. And during the times I'm free, I doubt anyone else is. *grumbles*
I'm planning on asking for a key during the next general assembly, and here's what my selling point would be:
"I'm *always* going to be there earlier than anyone else is anyway, so it's not going to be a problem. In any case, it would either be one of two things: A) You get the place set up first thing, free of charge, every day, or B) Because the place has the adorable Automatic Lock feature, on lucky days you may be able to have the pleasure catching me locking myself inside."
My friend says I'm very pathetic.
I am.
It's 920, I've finished my LJ entry, and my next class is at 10.
God save me.
