After the End--more musings
Nov. 12th, 2003 09:37 pmI am pathetic. Three LJ entries in one day. I am procrastinating. I should have done all those things I was planning to do: Study. Read up. Organize. Clean. Finish that peer evaluation form my friend gave me for her application to Dartmouth and Mount Holyoke. Nanashi. (Only six more fics left to read--Christ, what's taking me so long?)
Well, made a new icon. Took a leaf out of
al_riddle's book. *points* Very proud of myself. *nods proudly*
The Quills icon will have to go, for now. I can't bear parting with the Slytherin icon, as it's a staple in my comments to
persuade_me's entries, and the Big Sisters Anonymous cannot go unless I feel rightfully confident Draco *will* be left alone. *is protective*
Anyway, here it is. Just one more theory, actually, but someone *did* say she enjoyed reading about people's theories as they read. ;)
I have just finished the chapter when Adam's friends come over at the Burrow and Bill and Fleur have some quality time, to put it lightly. I'm past where Ginny Healed Malfoy, for a bit. I haven't read Chapter 37 just yet.
I think Ella is actually Gabrielle. I first thought this when Ron knocked into a girl with dirty blonde hair down at the Ministry. I think this took place just after the chapter In the Trenches, so I had a hunch then, but brushed it off as something too coincidental to happen. After all, Mont Ste Mireille is way over in France, how could Gabrielle have made it through?
Then again, Ella is just a bit too close to Gabrielle, isn't it? And Adam says she's pretty--it's duly noted, and really, it wouldn't always be the first thing on anyone's mind when talking about friends unless it's very very notable and Important To The Plot.
Plus, the day Adam's friends got in and Ella ran away? They couldn't find her, right? Because the tracking charm is placed on the children's hair, and if Gabrielle were Ella and consequently quarter-veela... Veela hair has some magical properties of its own, doesn't it? It *is* the core of Fleur's wand, for instance. Perhaps the tracking charm just doesn't work on veela hair after all. :)
Made some progress with the other theories.
Elves *are* the answer, I'm right! Sort of. *sheepish* I'm still wondering about how werewolves could do the guarding--what about their monthly problems?
And Draco Malfoy... I take it back. He could not be planning something; he's already had Ginny in his Manor and he didn't do anything about it. But if what Ginny is hinting at is correct then hmm... Perhaps the ring is controlling Malfoy. It *could* be to plan something, or it could be accidental.
The ring could also probably explain why Malfoy is doing a better job with the dragons...
I think I've gone mad. I'm theorizing like crazy over a fic. It's becoming obsessive, really... But truth be told, it's quite fun doing a bit of guesswork like we did with all four works before OotP came out. :D
And I swear I'm mixing up the dungeons with AtE... First that letter with Ginny dated 1999. I could have sworn AtE was set in real time, but apparently it isn't. The Dungeons, however, are.
And Hermione coming over to Harry's at the Notch, saying all those things about how she wasn't as close to Harry as Ron is, but she's there for him anyway?
I was thinking to myself that that's probably because Ron and Harry have snogged quite a couple of times more than usual. Not in AtE, Slumber. That part belongs to the Dungeons.
And the Remus and Sirius interaction in AtE? Priceless. Almost like the HP books. Pure subtext and merciless hinting, but never anything concrete. *groans* Sometimes I mistake their interaction for what could possible happen in the Dungeons world.
Any fellow het-and-slash fans out there? How *do* you balance? ;P
