GIP, Dad, LJ and NaNoWriMo
Oct. 2nd, 2004 04:00 pmEDIT: What kind of GIP post forgets to use the icon you want to gratuitously post, anyway?
I've just realised that I haven't used this icon at all since I uploaded it, which is strange as I'm always lazy and slacking off. XP
Anyway. Last night I went to visit my dad in the hospital. He just had an operation, more preemptive than anything else, so I didn't worry or anything. I didn't know the details either, because my parents didn't really talk to us about it, so as I was being interrogated by friends I actually did not know what to say. They now think I am a very bad daughter.
But seriously. I mean, it's just an operation, it's not on something life-threatening. Just standard procedure to make sure the lump they found in his stomach would not turn out to be a problem. And if my parents didn't want to talk about it, then why should I worry myself over it? I don't like thinking of things for the sole purpose of worrying me, thankyouverymuch.
So I visited him yesterday, and well it went fine, but I didn't expect him to look so pale and to look so sick. Quite unsettling, and man, from all of us in the family, my dad is the healthiest. I mean, he exercises regularly, jogs every morning, eats plenty of healthy food and stuff. This is the second time this year I've seen him in the hospital, as a patient, and it kind of weirds out your world, somehow.
But he's fine, so it's alright.

I am declaring October LJ Appreciation Month for me. Because, well, I say so. Despite its many faults and evilness and despite being horridly slow on
siobhanohare and eating up posts and stuff, I rather like the idea that it exists at all. Otherwise, I would have missed so much.
So, every day I shall have a reason for liking LJ. Let's see if I end up with 31.
1. It makes me meet incredibly generous people.
2. It is codeless now.
Also, I am signing up for NaNoWriMo. In, like, a few minutes. *nods* Then I shall have to cook up the plot. But I must study first, of course. Yes. Er.

Date: 2004-10-02 03:17 pm (UTC)I'm glad your dad's okay. It sucks to have a parent in the hospital. It also sucks to be in the hospital. I hate the hospital smell, you know, the mix between antiseptic and nasty food. *gag*
Ooh, NaNo, I did that last year. Made it half way. Almost exactly. It was like 25,120 words or some such. Good luck.

Thanks! <333
