but Netflix has Doctor Who and I just got Netflix and so I decided to rewatch Blink. Except I did that by starting with Human Nature and Family of Blood and I think I'm going to go straight to the Master episodes next, and this is what I have discovered:

Blink is still as bloody brilliant as I remember it being.

I am massively in love with this story. MASSIVELY. The unraveling of the plot is crazy awesome (all the best bits of time travel stories) and Sally Shipton is probably only second to Amelia Pond (the kid, not Legs) in being the best companion that never was and the Weeping Angels are creepy. as. FUCK. (Didn't like the episode when they returned though, but ah well. Some things just don't work as well once the basic premise is known. Curse of the sequel.)

but I will be okay with that, provided this happens: )

PS. Um. I wrote Terry Boot-based fanfiction. (Yay writing again!) It's about as canon-compliant as you can get with a minor character (not obscure; he's got at least a few lines from the 1st and 2nd books, and he's one of the few students Harry Potter at least recognizes--that's worth something, right? :|), but it's also fairly rough. It clocked in at ~6200 words, dear god.

Does anyone want to beta? And Britpick? *hopeful* I'm in no hurry to post it, so don't worry about like, meeting a deadline or anything. I just need a new perspective on it. Also, to leave it alone for a bit.

I am going to miss David Tennant. I swear I am. But. Still! Nobody forgets their first doctor, right? But that doesn't mean the shift to the second one won't be all that bad!

Are you ready, Mr Smith? )

SO a couple of nights ago I was re-watching one of my favourite shows in the world, and a scene just really struck me as very, very relevant to today's current issues.

A man had just been voted to premiership, and three people were sitting around a living room telly, talking about him. Slightly paraphrased:

"I was going to vote for him," said the girl.

"Oh really?" one of the men asked.

"Yeah, me too," the second man said.

"Why?"

"I don't know," the girl said, "But I liked him."

"Yeah. He was always good to hear," the second man agreed.

"I felt safe," said the girl, tapping her fingers on the cup she held.

And then The Doctor frowned, because he'd heard that drumming sound before Martha was tapping out on her cup before, and then Harold Saxon started talking on the telly, and their telly got blown up and they had to be on the run because they were suspected terrorists--

But I'm getting ahead of myself. :|

Because you know-- maybe the United Kingdom didn't work out much for The Master, but he's definitely set his eyes on America since then! And I can't believe no one's pointed it out before.

Yes, flist. Obama is The Master! I need an icon for that. Come on-- good orator, rose to prominence fairly recently (when did we *really* start hearing about Obama, hmm? *narrows eyes*), bewitches the world with his words...

Observe what he did to the world when he was in power (PS: What follows is spoilerific of Doctor Who 3x12):

I would worry if I were you, flist.

I would. *nods solemnly*

PS: You know I love you guys hardcore, but as I really didn't invest myself in this whole election as little more than a bemused and fascinated observer, I thought last night that the reactions to his speech were interesting (Transcript available here, btw, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] morganashkevron who posted it). Actually, the reactions to him are, in general.

PPS: I can totally start a Real-Life Quibbler-esque blog of crackpot conspiracy theories, y/n?

It is utterly tragic that my first thought upon seeing who was:

"CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!"

I am still not over that. And I still haven't gotten around to watching the Skins season finale.

And I am not processing anything beyond "CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!" right now. :|

ETA: I almost hate to say this, but despite initial apprehensions, I always end up liking the new companion so much more than previous ones. :|

The Goblet of Fire is on HBO and you watch it for the David Tennant scenes.

Mmm, but he DOES make one hot young Death Eater. :|
