slumber: (why am i the witness)

Can I help it if I'm just so utterly curious that I wonder what [livejournal.com profile] delawarean's two updates last June 19 were all about? This is hardly any of my business, and of course what stays under friends-lock should remain friends-locked, but what I wouldn't give for a third-party omniscient perspective at this moment, if only so I know how everything's unfolding.

Do you honestly believe this beats Limeywank, though? I mean, hmm, the expose was quite impressively executed, no small thanks in part to [livejournal.com profile] charlottelenox's flair for exposition, but is the actual wank content superior to faking death for the emo kids? Or any other wank, for that matter?

I know all the meta right now is about what revelations like Sockpuppetgate (or is it Scribewank?) mean for all of us, and I could go on about what I think in all those issues, but I am primarily an observer of the second degree, and that's why I choose to meta the meta.

[Poll #752243]

If it isn't there, then it's probably because it never reached a fandom country girl like me, which means it's likely not big enough. That, or I'd forgotten it. No ticky boxes for the kiddies because I don't like them. :|

There goes two nights' distraction. Hm. I suppose I could always just play with ice cubes or something.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] gmth asks what we've gained and lost in fandom and allow me to deviate a bit from the friends answer (although I HAVE gained plenty of dearly loved ones), because in light of all the wanking and drama, I realised that were it not for fandom, I'd never really, fully know what it's like to be in what Hollywood purports as a typical high school. My high school was so much tamer than this jungle. ♥♥♥

I have a short explanation! :D

[livejournal.com profile] msscribe wanted to be terribly fandom popular, so she made sockpuppet journals that badmouthed her and many other BNFs, then went and heroically defended herself, making people like her. But she lied about some really big, important things to garner sympathy; and of course the fact that all her biggest supporters/critics turned out to be her is kind of pathetic. Oh yeah, and then she went and anon commented on [livejournal.com profile] sapphire_isle's mom's LJ, suggesting that her cancer was just made up so people would give them money.

That's so not comprehensive, but it sort of explains.

([livejournal.com profile] slumber, you could probably do a better explainy job than me, but I figured I'd be okay since I already explained once today. :p)

And even though I was in fandom when this was happening, it completely went over my head. Mostly. This made me WTF.

I think I'd come into fandom a few months before the Aja/Ivy wank exploded, and I remember being swayed towards the Ivyblossom side (because I loved her writing, hahaha I am so objective) and now I've seen Aja's side of it too, since this has all been dragged back up, and you know, history belongs to the victors. Always been in the periphery of things, though, which is where I like it best.
