I borrowed A Separate Peace by John Knowles from my brother, mostly because of this summary:

Set at a boys' boarding school in New England during the early years of World War II, "A Separate Peace" is a harrowing and luminous parable of the dark side of adolescence. Gene is a lonely, introverted intellectual. Phineas is a handsome, taunting, daredevil athlete. Oh, but I'm still reading the book. He just cannot spot slash when he sees it. :P (Trust me on this one. Brothers? Aren't as good as you think they are. :P)
