My thoughts are the first few minutes of this ep.

but Netflix has Doctor Who and I just got Netflix and so I decided to rewatch Blink. Except I did that by starting with Human Nature and Family of Blood and I think I'm going to go straight to the Master episodes next, and this is what I have discovered:

Blink is still as bloody brilliant as I remember it being.

I am massively in love with this story. MASSIVELY. The unraveling of the plot is crazy awesome (all the best bits of time travel stories) and Sally Shipton is probably only second to Amelia Pond (the kid, not Legs) in being the best companion that never was and the Weeping Angels are creepy. as. FUCK. (Didn't like the episode when they returned though, but ah well. Some things just don't work as well once the basic premise is known. Curse of the sequel.)

Urgh, you guys, this makes my heart swell ten-fold. ♥

For those new to my flist, I've written about the LGBT movement in hockey before. It's not anything grandiose, and it isn't really league-led, but considering this is one of the four big sports, it's definitely something. (I don't follow the other three so I'm not aware of how the developments in hockey compare to those.)

Anyway, an update to that is the You Can Play project, spearheaded by Patrick Burke (Brendan's brother), and their first step involves filming a PSA from some of the biggest names in the league. They may not look like it, but those are All-Stars, top players in the league. And Burke says they have filmed 30 players in total out of the 35 who are committed to joining this.

This is a really good recap of everything too.

You Can Play is Burke's bold new initiative that enlists NHL players — the count is up to around 30 as the campaign kicked off Sunday — to "change the sometimes homophobic culture of locker rooms with a message that athletes should be judged on athletic skill and ability, not sexual orientation or other discriminatory factors," according to the organization.

"Through You Can Play, we want to let guys know why that [casual homophobia] is hard for gay athletes to hear. Even if you don't mean it in that sense, there's probably a guy in the locker room that can't take it in any way but in that sense," said Burke.

It's just a really awesome thing to have happen, and like I said last year, I just hope we continue to move in this direction.

Last Wednesday Isa mentioned having a hard time finding fic for a small fandom. I asked her which, she said Cabin Pressure, a 4-man radio play in between its 3rd and 4th seasons. All the episodes were on YouTube so I thought, well, it had Benedict Cumberbatch in it, and it's Isa-approved, so I thought, why not.

I popped it in to listen to during work Thursday morning. Last Saturday I listened to the last ep of season 3. Today I have gone through a re-listen of s1.

Yep. This is a thing now.

Derp. I didn't miss the

smutty_claus reveals but I kind of failed on doing anything after it. Like posting, or thanking the people who reviewed. Ooooops, so off to do that now. ANYWAY. This was my submission. JKR had listed Terry down as a Muggleborn in her notes, and while she had a lot of notes that didn't make the "final cut", I think it's interesting to try and make everything she said fit anyway. hogwarts_houses, originally posted here. This is also something of a backstory that I started writing in 2009 for Salvation by Slytherin, albeit this is more focused on Terry than the other three boys.
Summary: Before he got on the train his mother had pulled him into a hug and told him she knew he'd always been special, and she was sure he'd do very well in all his classes regardless of the subject, and his father laughed and wondered how many versions of Abra Cadabra Terry would have to memorise. When he wrote a few weeks later to explain there was actually a fair amount of Latin to remember, his father's reply included a hint of going on to be a doctor.

( Hogwarts turned out to be real after all, though quite honestly, not nearly as good as it sounded on paper—sorry, parchment. )
